Bacolod City has recently celebrated its official Charter Day. This come after President Duterte signed the republic act No 11146, which declares June 18th of every year a special no working holiday in the city of Bacolod in commemoration of the day President Quezon signed and approved into effect Commonwealth act No 326, creating the city of Bacolod.

City mayor Evelio Leonardia said that during the pat 80 years, the charter day was celebrated on October 19, as the previous law erroneously set the forgoing as the date for the charter day celebration. Authorities later found out that the city’s charter was signed on June 18, 1938.
